A Featured Guest: Freckled Laundry!!

Today is a special day, for I am featuring Jami from Freckled Laundry and to say her blog is one of my favorites would be an understatement. She truly is an inspiration and her crafty how to's are a touch of genius.  The look of her blog is refreshingly unique and so is her design style.  All of her posts will capture your heart and intrigue you to no end.  If there ever was a person that could motivate you to pick up a paint brush and create something beautiful, Jami is that one!  So sit back, relax, and enjoy this little tidbit from the amazing Jami!  Take it away...

Thank you so much, sweet Natalie for the opportunity to guest post on your oh so inspirational blog! It was fun having you over at my place last week. You are such a great bloggin' buddy and a kindred spirit for sure.

What motivated you to start a blog? After a corporate downsizing and a subsequent severance, like many in similar situations, I was left not knowing what the future held. After some serious soul searching and 8-month-old twins to care for, I decided to follow my creative heart and finally pursue my handmade baby shoe and home wares line {freckled laundry} with the *hope* that I can someday be successful enough to do what I love and continue to stay home with my babies. I also have a small home that needs some love and attention and thought that I’d share my journey with a blog. This might sound a little "out there" to some, but my biggest inspiration in life was my late Aunt Carole and I kind of felt her whispers to follow my creative heart. In short (ha!), I'm blogging from the heart with a dream that will hopefully come true.

We all wanted to be something when we "grew up",  what did you want to be? An artist. I remember the moment (I was 7) when I made that decision. I pursued a life of art and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Ithaca College although I had considered Interior Design or Fashion School at one point...and Marine Biology for a month after a high school trip to Sea World.

If you could choose anywhere in the world to live, where would it be?  And why? Anywhere? This one isn’t easy. I have a bucket list of 20 places I'd love to travel to including Ireland, Thailand, Peru, and Africa (just to name a few) but as far as hanging my hat, it would definitely be in a cabin along a crystal clear lake somewhere in the mountains. I'm thinking the Canadian Rockies, Canada.
I'm not much of a tropical girl other than in small week or two doses. I much prefer the chill of snow, throwing on snuggly socks and sweaters, and cuddling up next to a fire with family or Twilight a book.

Who is your favorite designer? Fashion? Vera Wang. Her style and cuts are simple, clean and timeless and her fabrics make the statement. Her palette is primarily black, white, and gray - the only colors (or shades rather) that I wear. Can you believe it? Imagine my delight when she started an affordable line for kohls.

Interior? I have 50 favorite everythings (songs, designers, foods, etc.) but I'll go with Rachel Ashwell. She defines shabby chic style to the point where I'm left speechless. You would stop breathing if you ever walked in to one of her few fancy shops.

Hmmm. I might need to make that fabric cake.
I have no idea what I'd use it for but I want one.
I just found this quote on her blog and wanted to share...
"It's amazing what you find when you look in the opposite direction." (kenneth kole)

Love.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? My children.

What has been your favorite project thus far? I'd have to say my Faux Zinc Nightstand simply because it seems to be everyone else's favorite project. At the time, the faux zinc finish hadn't been done before so I appreciate its uniqueness, too.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read a bit about me!
And, thank you again Natalie.

freckled hugs,
Jami
