So far I have decided for sure to paint all of the cabinets in my house white. Everything else is up in the air.
This weekend I was confronted with hardware choices. I didn't buy any yet but my kitchen sink is on the brink of disaster and after painting my daughter's furniture, I will have to buy new knobs for her dresser.
Something that almost all of the rooms in the house (with the exception of my room) have in common is the need for new hardware.
The cabinets have no knobs, and the faucets are outdated. All of the dressers I plan on putting my little touch on also need new knobs or pulls. So then it comes down to me picking colors.
A polished finish
The satin nickel
black knobs and pulls
Oil-Rubbed bronze
Out of all of these I adore oil-rubbed bronze, but I'm not sure how long this look will be around and how hard it will be to replace later on as the years go by.
And then I come to the bedroom dresser pulls and knobs...
These shouldn't be too hard because I can go with the style of each bedroom. Target had some great deals, and anthropologie made me gasp. Their selection is superb but the prices make me gulp.
I like that I can come to my little blog and lay everything out in front of me. Your comments help me to decide believe it or not. So for now I find myself buying more nick knacks than anything really substantial . I have 2 weeks to figure it out.
Don't you love changing things in your home? When you finish, you can sit back and realize what you've accomplished.
ReplyDeleteHave fun picking out the hardware.

I LOVE the oil-rubbed knobs and faucets. I don't have an Anthropologie where I live but all of those knobs are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, great blog! I am your newest follower. Thanks for stopping by mine.

All of these are amazing!! I just love white cabinets. My dream is a white kitchen with subway tile.

Good luck with your choice!!! Have a wonderful day and thanks for your sweet compliment on my blog :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy husband liked the oiled bronze look and so that's what we've gone with through two bathroom remodels and a kitchen in three years. He's dying to have all the doorknobs in the house replaced with that, but to me a doorknob is something I scarcely notice.

I love the crisp, clean look of shiny faucets so that's what I went with.
ReplyDeleteOur doorknobs are egg shaped oil rubbed bronze, oil rubbed enough that I'd just call them black. Except for the ones that get used very frequently. They are starting to show more bronze underneath. But I like it!
Drawer pulls are another story. I think that it works well to go with the feel of each room rather than the same throughout. I have seen some mighty good lookin knobs here and there. If they really change the look of teh room, I don't mind paying a little more if I love them. More than 10 dollars per knob is getting pretty high, but if I get a dresser with 6 drawers on Craigslist for $50, or someone gives it to me for free, then spend $60 for spectacular knobs, I still feel I'd be ahead of the game!
Love the last knobs - very pretty! And as for kitchen hardware I suppose I'm a traditionalist. I would go for shiny silver.
